A Few of My Favourite Places in the Pink City
There’s something about Jaipur. The colour, the craftsmanship, the energy, it’s chaotic and calm all at once. I spent a few days soaking it all in, wandering between palaces and workshops, eating amazing food and falling in love with the city all over again!
Jaipur has a way of pulling you in slowly, through the tiny details. Hand-carved doors, dyed fabrics drying in the sun and them most incredible food! You find beauty in the everyday, and inspiration tucked in every corner.
Here’s a round-up of where I ate, shopped, and explored, a little love letter to the Pink City.
FOOD & DRINK
Jaipur Modern
A beautifully designed concept space, set in a restored 1940s bungalow that blends food, fashion, and homewares, it’s a little slice of calm in the middle of the city. The cafe has a seasonal menu that’s so delicious (and so needed after a morning of exploring).
After lunch, you can wander through the store, it’s full of amazing textiles, ceramics, clothing, and thoughtful objects sourced from across India. Everything is beautifully curated. Definitely one of my favourite spots to eat and shop in one go.
Anokhi Cafe
Tucked just behind the iconic Anokhi store, this café is a longtime favourite, and for good reason. It’s the kind of place you find yourself coming back to, especially when you’re craving something fresh, light, and reliably good. The menu is full of wholesome options, think fresh salads, sandwiches, soups, juices, and some of the best baked goods in the city (their carrot cake is famous for a reason).
Niravi Jaipur
I stayed at this hotel and loved it. It’s peaceful, thoughtful, and beautifully designed, every corner feels carefully considered. Mornings were filled with freshly baked breads with homemade preserves, chai, South Indian idlis with coconut chutney, poached eggs or omelettes and seasonal fruit. Dinner was always a highlight, we had thali most nights, and my partner swears it was some of the best Indian food he’s ever eaten.
Giardino (Jai Mahal Palace)
Set in the gardens of the Jai Mahal Palace, Giardino offers the most amazing italian! Think handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, and candlelit tables under the stars.
Bar Palladio
One of my favourite places for a pre dinner cocktail! Known for its dreamy blue interiors and playful design. Come for sunset drinks, stay for the vibe. The cocktails are great, the crowd is chic, and the setting, whether indoors or under the fairy lights outside is pure magic.
THINGS TO DO
Pink City Cooking Class
Run by Bunty and dimple (+91 98290 06362). My partner and I had the most phenomenal experience here that I’ll never forget. We cooked together, laughed a lot, and learnt so much about Rajasthani food and culture. It’s warm, hands-on, and full of heart.
Flower & Food Market
Go early! It’s vibrant, chaotic, fragrant, and full of colour and is one of the best ways to experience the real rhythm of Jaipur as it wakes up. You’ll find marigolds, roses, chillies, spices, and more. Wandering through this market gives you a glimpse into the daily life in Jaipur. I recommend going just after sunrise, chai in hand!
Creatis Workshop
I did an incredible embroidery workshop here and absolutely loved it. I learnt so many new techniques, some of which we’ll be implementing at Say! The team at Creatis are true masters of their craft, and even just watching them work was inspiring.
They also run block-printing sessions and other textile-based workshops, all deeply rooted in traditional Indian craftsmanship. If you’re at all interested in textiles, design, or slow fashion, this is a must. You can find them at creatis.in.
Hawa Mahal
Jaipur’s most iconic pink façade. You’ve probably seen it all over Pinterest, but it’s even more beautiful in person. The architecture is incredible, and the view from the top is worth the climb!
City Palace
Grand, elegant, and full of history. The City Palace is a must, give yourself time to wander through the courtyards, museums, and galleries. It’s right in the heart of the city and easy to pair with nearby shopping. Visit PDFK Store, a hidden gem inside the City Palace grounds, owned by the Princess, the pieces are elevated, thoughtfully crafted, and unlike anything you’ll find in the usual tourist markets.
Amber Palace:
In the hills above Jaipur, Amber Palace is beautiful and full of history. The architecture is incredible‘, think mirrored halls, carved arches, and amazing views over the lake. I’d definitely recommend getting a guide, the stories and history really bring it to life.
This is only a brief glimpse into an incredible place, there’s so much more to see, taste, and experience in Jaipur. If you’re planning a trip and have any questions, or just want some extra tips, feel free to reach out to me via email sophie@saythelabel.com.au or instagram Direct message!
